CHRISTIAN DIAZ

My first yoga class EVER was at Amazing Yoga in 2018. My friend’s wife wanted someone to go with her, and he absolutely refused (hahaha, his loss right!). I had found meditation a few years prior, so I was curious about yoga, and gave it a shot.

I remember during that class flailing about like a fish on a boat floor, being very confused, and very self-conscious. But as I laid in Savasana my body felt great, and my mind was quiet. I felt a sense of peace and serenity (and exhaustion) I had never felt before.

I dabbled in yoga for a bit, only going with my friend’s wife. Then in 2019 I suffered a pinched sciatic nerve that greatly effected my walking and standing. Yoga seemed to be the only thing that made it feel better, and it helped with my leg strength and balance. So, I started coming A LOT! Then boom…Covid. I survived by doing AY’s online classes sometimes twice a day, and was thrilled when the studio opened back up.

Since then I’ve been practicing 4-5 times a week, really enjoying the physical and mental benefits. Honestly, I have never really been into physical fitness or working out, probably because I never found anything I liked. I HATED gym class, but I LOVE yoga! I love how it quiets my mind, makes me more aware of my thoughts, helps me let go of things that no longer serve me, relives my stress, makes me physically and mentally stronger, more focused, I could go on and on. I’m the kind of person that would be too stiff to even get out of bed if it wasn’t for yoga. Some people say they aren’t flexible enough to do yoga. That’s exactly why I do it, to be more flexible. And to not groan like a 90 year old man when I bend down to pick something up! Haha!

March of 2023, I finished my teacher training at Amazing Yoga and joined the team! Teaching is so much fun, and also helps with my personal practice. I’m very grateful that I now get to teach something that has been so beneficial to me in so many ways.

Off the mat I enjoy playing and making music. I study piano, music theory, and music production. I love going anywhere in Pittsburgh that has live music and of course good food!
